My Silver Double: Custom Duct Tape Dress Form

I am a woman with curves. I have nothing against my voluptuous hourglass figure, except that as a newbie seamster, I have such a hard time getting home-sewn garments to fit correctly with the first or second attempts. So, with the huz‘s help, we created a duct tape dress form. It was a simple process, although my feet did get a little sore by the end of the taping process. What surprised me the most, was how my image that was informed by looking in the mirror and in photos (all 2-dimensional sources) was pretty different from what I look like in the round. Somehow, I never made the connection between how my clothes fit and my body shape. I can now see how so many women get their bra size wrong.

All you need to create your own double is 2-3 rolls of duct tape (I used standard silver, but there are many colors available), a large/long, old tee shirt that you don’t mind parting with, batting (I used about 5 lbs.) and a partner willing to wrap you up.

This video from April and Mimi is a great tutorial.
