Pattern: Kwik Sew 3422, Men’s Shirts
Fabric: Cotton dobby in ocher, linen printed with robots
Notions: Oval buttons in avacado

Pattern Description:The Men’s Shirts have a double yoke, patch pocket, and shirt-tail hemline. View A has a collar with a separate collar stand, full-length sleeves with cuffs and sleeve plackets. View B has a collar with stand in one, and short hemmed sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: Men’s Small – XXL. I made size XXL.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? This was the first shirt that I have made, and the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I first made a muslin expecting to have to alter the pattern a bit, but the sizing is perfect.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? At first I was confused about how to sew the double yoke, but the end result of hidden seams is very nice.

Fabric Used: Cliff loves robots and wanted a fun and comfy shirt. He gravitates towards earth tones and settled on ocher with bright green buttons to set off the robot fabric.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I followed the pattern exactly, except for adding the robot tape to the top of the pocket.

Conclusion: The sizing and simplicity of this pattern makes it a classic. I will definitely hang on to this one, and try to coax Cliff into wearing more button-ups.
