Pattern: Amy Butler’s Barcelona Skirts
Fabric: Japanese import cotton for exterior, natural muslin for lining
Notions: 7″ zipper, green ribbon
Pattern Description: Layered skirt, a-line skirt and apron overlay. Nimble in spirit. Revived vintage designs for easy going elegance.
Pattern Sizing: Extra Small – Extra Large. I cut size large.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I love Amy Butler’s patterns as the instructions are extremely easy to follow… but it doesn’t hurt that this skirt was essentially 2 pieces.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was a cinch to make and didn’t take much time at all to complete. It fits well and is flattering.
Fabric Used: I found the exterior fabric at Hart’s Fabric in Santa Cruz. It was a bit pricey at $27/yard, but it laundered beautifully, and hardly needed to be ironed. I love the bit of silver in the design.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened the skirt only by 2-3 inches, but if I make this again, I will shorten it a bit more, to above the knee.
Conclusion: Simple and elegant, and extremely easy to make.
